Black Cod/Sablefish

Icicle Seafoods is one of the largest buyers and processors of this rich, oily fish that is prized in both Asian markets and upscale restaurants in the U.S. Like halibut, black cod or sablefish is caught using long-lines in the deep cold waters of the Bering Sea and Gulf of Alaska. It is normally sold dressed with the head off and individually frozen. Thanks to its rich oil content, black cod is exceptionally flavorful and an excellent fish for smoking. The harvesting season runs from early March to mid-November.
